ATHENS, GA (January 3, 2012) The University of Georgia’s College of Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS) Alumni Association Awards Committee has selected Georgia United Credit Union as the 2012 FACS Appreciation Award recipient. This award is presented to an individual or organization who has contributed significantly, financially, programmatically, or legislatively, to support the college.
UGA FACS Professors (Drs. Palmer, Goetz, and Chatterjee) shared “with grateful hearts, and in behalf of the hundreds of FACS students and thousands of community members who have benefited from the college’s association with Georgia United Credit Union, we nominate Georgia United Credit Union for the FACS Appreciation Award. Over the past several years, Georgia United Credit Union has provided a broad array of deep and continuing support to the Family Financial Planning Program in HACE and in doing so has greatly enhanced FACS students’ academic experience and promoted the college in local, state and national community”
The FACS Alumni Association will recognize Georgia United Credit Union at their Annual Awards Luncheon at noon on Saturday, February 18, 2012.
Formerly known as Georgia Federal Credit Union, a recent charter change from federal to state prompted the 53 year old Credit Union to change their name to Georgia United.
